AI Architect vs AI Engineer: The Discipline Enterprises Keep Confusing
DavidLinthicum · x · 2026-09-08
The author draws a line between AI engineers, who build and operate AI systems, and AI architects, who decide what to build, why, how it fits the business, what risks it creates, and whether value justifies cost. Good AI architects understand cloud, data, security, governance, integration, and cost — and can tell an organization when AI is the wrong answer and the real problem is data or architecture debt in an AI costume.
