Fields Medalist Tsimerman founds Mathematical AI Safety Institute, hiring 10-100 mathematicians

Fields Medalist Jacob Tsimerman and Andrew Critch announced the Mathematical AI Safety Institute (MAISI) to build mathematical foundations for AI safety. It aims to hire 10-30 mathematicians in the Bay Area for its first semester, scaling to 30-100 for Sept 2027, with visiting positions from one semester to two years. Advisors include Timothy Gowers, Ravi Vakil, Geoffrey Irving (ex-UK AI Security Institute chief scientist) and Paul Christiano (ARC director). Applications are open now.
