Developer ThePrimeagen predicts that by 2027, models will replace a large share of Playwright-style end-to-end tests by crawling and actually using applications via desktop control. He says he's already doing this for Omarchy and finds it remarkably powerful, while replicating the same behavior with scripts is far harder — a sign of agents displacing traditional UI test automation.
