Fudan, Stanford, Oxford and 12 institutions publish 68-page survey on AI as productivity

jiqizhixin · x · 2026-09-08

A 68-page survey from Fudan University with Zhejiang, Stanford, Berkeley, Princeton, Oxford, UCL and 12 institutions total examines how AI becomes real productivity — reorganizing work, unlocking new production possibilities, and shifting responsibility.

Core formula: Productivity = Efficiency Mechanism × Expansion Mechanism. Efficiency mechanisms reduce human input for existing output; expansion mechanisms unlock tasks previously too costly, slow, or complex.

Unlike past tool revolutions that amplified one aspect of work within preset boundaries, Agentic AI combines generality with autonomy, restructuring execution, collaboration, and accountability. Synthesizes cross-industry evidence including Anthropic data from 100K users.
