Mathematicians report major Navier-Stokes progress, say OpenAI may have fully solved it

Mathematicians Tristan Buckmaster and Levent Alpöge have made major progress toward the existence and smoothness problem for the Navier-Stokes equations — one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems. They also say OpenAI may have solved the problem in full.
If confirmed, it would mark the first time frontier AI appears to have beaten top human mathematicians to a landmark result. The news has also sparked a dispute over credit assignment, with those involved yet to fully share their sides.
