24-hour Claude Sonnet Factorio run: ~100 iterations, almost green science, killed by biters
SIGKITTEN · x · 2026-09-08
SIGKITTEN ran Claude Sonnet autonomously in Factorio for 24 hours across 100 iterations and posted a recap:
- Significant downtime fixing the mod; pumps and pipes were rough, and getting electricity connected properly took a few tries
- External steering via messages posted to an X thread, with mixed effectiveness
- Achieved crate → assembler → crate automation but didn't push hard on belts
- Most time was still spent mining and hauling manually despite instructions to focus on automation
- Almost reached green science before being overwhelmed by biters; adding a turret came too late
A useful hands-on data point on long-horizon agent autonomy in a complex game.
