Superintelligence must tell my real choices from impulses I'll regret

The author raises a subtle question about superintelligence and personal autonomy: we don't want it dictating what a good life looks like, nor obediently helping us ruin our own.

At some point, it will need to distinguish a choice we genuinely endorse from an impulse we'll regret — and the hard part is that we ourselves often can't tell the difference.
