Decentralized Compute Markets Run AI Agent Workloads at 3-10x Below AWS Pricing

Cloud expert David Linthicum says he predicted this years ago: agentic AI workloads are a natural fit for decentralized compute. While the industry defaulted to routing every token through centralized clouds and premium foundational models, the economics never made sense to him.

Citing Yellow, he notes that decentralized compute marketplaces are now running real AI agent workloads at 3–10x below AWS on-demand pricing, thanks to reverse-auction GPU markets, escrow-based payments, and no corporate pricing department — exactly what cost-sensitive, fault-tolerant agent workloads need.
