An essay on quantum money: cash runs on no infrastructure and no permission, powered only by trust that notes can't be cloned — an endless minting-vs-forgery arms race balancing sovereignty and commerce. Quantum money would be the final stop: unclonable by the laws of physics, truly sovereign, truly peer-to-peer digital money. It doesn't exist yet, but its feasibility is barely in doubt.
