Responding to awesomekling's take on engineers reacting badly to AI replicating their expertise, a four-decade veteran software engineer argues the real question is what AI leaves behind:
- LLMs cannot say "leave it with me, I'll get back to you when it's resolved," "I don't think that's a good idea and here's why," or "we tried that before and here were the issues" — and that matters enormously
- People who claim removing humans is simple because "it's just architecture and infrastructure" live in a bubble about what they've been delegating to humans all these years
- SMEs who think they can build systems in downtime are fooling themselves: when your primary job is finding customers, prompting sessions won't outrank it
