ChatGPT-6 Astra rigs and animates a quadruped in Blender from a reference video
Delicious-Shower8401 · reddit · 2026-09-07
A Redditor tested ChatGPT-6 Astra inside Blender with Hitem3D, using quadruped animation as a stress test:
- The horse mesh was generated from a single image via Hi3D 3.0, with surprisingly solid anatomy and proportions
- Reduced to 100K polygons, the mesh still held up well visually
- Astra then actually operated inside Blender: creating the skeleton, building the rig, analyzing a real horse-running reference video, and reproducing it as a run animation
The gait isn't perfect up close, but the key point is the agent executed the task in the 3D software rather than just explaining it. Since quadrupeds normally need far more manual cleanup than humanoids, this offers an interesting glimpse of where creative agents are heading.
