Caltech Mathathon sets fairness rules: all AI conversations open-sourced for math community review

The Caltech Mathathon, organized by Sathvik Redrouthu's team with Anthropic and OpenAI, laid out its responsible-AI mechanics:
- Fairness: participants admitted by math ability, travel covered
- Transparency: all AI conversations recorded and open-sourced
- Understanding: participants must defend results in an oral defense
- Verification: results, demos and conversations will be published to MathDB for review by the math community
The 3-day event runs a Friday AI Agent workshop by Anthropic, competition Saturday–Sunday, and oral presentations to expert judges Sunday night. First-round prizes go to the most promising teams; a second round follows formal verification in early 2027.
