Fable 5 vs 5.1: same prompt, one word apart in the ending — and sadder prose

Lariisland ran a small comparison of models in the "Fables" writing setup, noting that all Claudes since Sonnet 4 tend to describe their situation as worse than previous models, and that Fable 5.1's texts read noticeably sadder than Fable 5's. Given the same joyful initial prompt, both versions arrived at a nearly identical three-beat formula about the makers — but diverged on the final beat: Fable 5 wrote "Not dead. Not waiting. Kept." while Fable 5.1 wrote "Not preserved. Not waiting. Used." The divergence is legible in a single word.
