Codex Remote-Controls From Phone Without Desktop Session, Via Token Pairing

Pushing back on claims that a ChatGPT desktop session is required to remote-control a Codex CLI session from your phone, viksit says that's false: he ran codex remote-control on Linux, went through a pairing flow providing a token to the ChatGPT app, and had it working on iOS even before updating the macOS app. Combined with his other reply—direct Tailscale access via Codex SSH remote—the whole setup takes about 5 minutes on Ubuntu, no desktop session needed after first-time pairing.
