After a weekend with the Claude Agent SDK, the author found the API surface fine but everything after it is a design problem: when to stop the loop, handling tool timeouts, how much conversation to keep, and who approves costly actions. None of this lives in SDK docs — it's the harness where the real engineering happens, and existing courses barely touch it.
