Open-Source Blender Add-on Turns 360° Image Sequences Into Lightweight 2.5D Assets
o0ANARKY0o · reddit · 2026-09-07
A developer released TURNtable Viewer, an early but functional open-source Blender add-on that converts sequences of 2D views into interactive 2.5D objects you can walk around inside a 3D scene.
- It automatically selects the view matching the viewer's horizontal position, creating the perception of 3D while keeping assets extremely lightweight.
- Sources can be rendered turntable sequences, photographic rotations, sprite sheets, game-style character views, or product rotations.
- Any frame count (8–360+) and any aspect ratio work; width is auto-calculated from image dimensions and height.
The author plans to keep refining controls and workflow and welcomes contributions.
