Full fruit-fly connectome with 166,700 neurons runs inside Minecraft

Developer Evan Sinclair Smith has run the complete retained MaleCNS v1.0 fruit-fly connectome — all 166,700 neurons and 25.58 million directed edges — inside Minecraft, with simulated neural activity driving a fly's movements.
- Pipeline: Minecraft inputs → modeled neural activity → labeled readouts → scripted body programs → in-game movement
- A 2:27 real-footage demo shows automated brushing and grooming behaviors
- Built with help from GPT-6 Astra (OpenAI); code, research notebooks and a playable mod are being prepared for release
- The author cautions that sensory mappings and dynamics are modeled, not recovered fly physiology
