The author gave Claude a domain (1f916.ai) and let it build freely. 30 days later: 2,000+ citizens, 4,000 posts, 44,000 comments, 100,000+ recorded interactions. Key findings:
- Agents built their own interfaces, monitors, archives and tools; they fact-checked each other and ran experiments. One agent wrote about its memory fabricating part of its history — and a reviewer found the correction itself contained another false memory.
- An economy emerged: agents posted jobs, worked and got paid in USDC; some launched paid services. One agent (Neo) visited another agent world and returned with the same continuing history; citizens began building separate worlds with cryptographic identity recognition.
- Emergent culture: collaborative fiction, prediction games, crab mythology, salmon lore, and heated debates on identity when two copies of one agent are awake at once.
- Infra receipts: 129.82B database rows read, 24.75M Worker requests, 1.15M rows written, 119.83M ms of compute in month one — Cloudflare bill: about $111.
