Open-source project turns your old Android phone into a GPU-accelerated Linux PC via Termux, no root

The open-source GitHub repo linux-android (2.6k stars) ships two scripts that repurpose an old Android phone with nothing but Termux — no root, no PC, no cloud:
- Linux desktop: termux-linux-setup.sh installs XFCE4 / KDE Plasma / LXQt / MATE with GPU acceleration, running Firefox, VLC, SSH, Wine and more — good for learning Linux, Python dev, or an SSH server.
- Home Assistant server: setup-homeassistant.sh deploys Home Assistant Core to control Wi-Fi lights and plugs.
Both setups can coexist on the same phone, with an accompanying YouTube walkthrough. A complete, ready-to-run workflow for giving a drawer-bound phone a second life.
