One academic thread ties the Lighthill Report's circle to Hinton, Dyson and Higgs

A neat piece of academic trivia: 50+ years ago, Freeman Dyson studied together as a boy at Winchester with Christopher Longuet-Higgins and James Lighthill, whose Lighthill Report is credited with triggering the first AI Winter.

Longuet-Higgins later became the PhD advisor to Geoff Hinton — linking the man behind the report that killed AI and the man who kept the dream alive through decades of dormancy. He also advised Peter Higgs of Higgs boson fame.

The thread links a highly recommended playlist of Freeman Dyson interviews.
