Indie dev builds Chrome sidebar extension that summarizes any page by content type
hich7 · reddit · 2026-09-06
An indie developer built Digest, a Chrome sidebar extension born from the pain of having 25 tabs open but properly reading only 3. It generates structured summaries of the page you're on—detecting content type (news, Reddit threads, product reviews, research pieces) and organizing the digest accordingly—with follow-up Q&A right in the sidebar, no tab switching needed. API costs are a real concern: it currently runs on free keys with possible delays, and users can plug in their own free Gemini API key in 30 seconds. Nothing is stored, and the extension is live on the Chrome Web Store for feedback.
