China restricts AI in classrooms: no solo AIGC use for primary schoolers, no AI answering for teachers

China has taken a cautious stance on AI in education, with rules issued in May 2024.
- Grades 1-6: students may not use AIGC features alone — an adult must accompany them
- Middle school: moderate exploration is allowed
- Teachers: may use AI to assist teaching, but not to answer students' questions
The rationale: preventing premature "thinking outsourcing" to AI, and preserving the importance of real human interaction between students and teachers.
