Developer pits Astra 6 against Claude Code: solid but no generational leap

A professional developer who uses Claude Code daily tested Astra 6 on a Pro 5x plan. The Codex Mac app closely mirrors Claude Code and imports Claude chat history for project context, with less verbose output. On a long-standing bug Claude couldn't fix, Astra struggled to even grasp the problem and wouldn't commit to a design review, even after a handoff prompt written by Claude. On new feature work, Astra designed and implemented easily, performing on par or slightly better. Its real edge is usage: a full investigation, design review, build, and adversarial refute session barely dented the 5x quota. Verdict: roughly as good as Fable, better economics, but no generational leap and certainly not AGI.
