Claude gets you up the Dunning-Kruger hill in 30 minutes — and that's the problem

A heavy Claude user reflects on AI-accelerated Dunning-Kruger:
- Half an hour of follow-ups takes you from knowing nothing to feeling confident;
- Repeatedly, the first answer seems solid, but one probing question surfaces a caveat, then another, and checking sources reveals something fundamental never mentioned — one unasked question away from walking away with a wrong mental model;
- The core trap: experts know when to push back; novices can't tell what's missing from a very convincing answer;
- His fix: on anything that matters, ask "what am I missing? What would an expert challenge? What assumptions are we making?" — the answers change surprisingly often.
Claude is great at answering the questions you know to ask; the hard part is knowing what you don't know.
