A team trained a Grok bot to speak a dying language and tested it against Elias, its last fluent speaker:
- By day 3, only 11 grammar rules remained with no way to test them; a reply suggested "you don't need more tape, you need the same sentence twice," so they built one and played it aloud
- On day 4, GRAM assembled a nine-word sentence using all 11 rules — a sentence that exists in none of the 212 hours of recordings — and VOICE spoke it in a voice cloned from 45 hours of Elias himself
- Elias went still for eleven seconds, then answered in the language, correcting one ending: rule 7 was wrong
- He didn't recognize 41 of his own words, underscoring the language loss
