Carbon nanocone water diode simulation shows potential rectification above 10,000

Discussing a Zhang 2026 paper on a "van der Waals water diode": a fullerene inside a carbon nanocone forms a ball-cone check valve whose opening pressure is tunable by fullerene size. In 60 ns MD simulations no water molecule passed backwards, implying rectification >1e4; vdW forces keep the ball seated as the cone curvature matches better than the flat surface.
