A proposed molecular-scale check valve pairs a carbon nanocone with a fullerene as the ball, with the critical opening pressure tunable via fullerene size. In molecular dynamics simulations, no water molecule passed in reverse over 60 ns, implying rectification ratios potentially above 10,000x — simulation only, no physical device yet.
