Student builds an MCP server that makes Canvas course content semantically searchable
DrJimmyBrungus_ · reddit · 2026-09-06
A university student wanted better agent access to their Canvas courses, so they built coursemcp.com. It indexes all Canvas content for a given course (acting as a user agent for AUP compliance), combines full-text and semantic indexes, and exposes an MCP endpoint so agents can efficiently search granular resources like individual lecture slides and assignment questions. Free tier offers 10 searches per month; the author is asking for feedback.
