In a conversation with Peter Diamandis, Elon Musk claimed robots will outperform the world's best surgeon in three years — "three years at scale" — and that there will likely be more great Optimus surgeons than human surgeons on Earth.

Surgical skill has always lived inside individual bodies: 15 years to build, lost at retirement, handed over person by person. A machine that reaches that level can be copied — skill becomes a file.
Diamandis noted the only costs are CapEx and electricity: "it works in Zimbabwe." Billions lack reliable surgical access and die from appendicitis, obstructed labour and hernias far from any operating theatre.
