AI experiment brings Botticelli's Primavera to life with live-action-to-painting video
dotey · x · 2026-09-06
Creator @ponyodong shared an experimental work that uses AI to convert live-action footage into the oil-painting texture of Botticelli's Primavera.
The camera moves through flowers into an orange grove as wind lifts the figures' hair and veils—they turn, run, and laugh like a dream sealed in the canvas for centuries. At the end, skin melts back into pigment and hair into brushstrokes as the three girls return to the painting.
The author frames it not as "making the painting come alive, but spring looking back at us through their eyes."
