Dev calls GPT-6 Astra influencer-first rollout annoying but says it's the best model yet
AIandDesign · x · 2026-09-06
Replying to @tomhacks' rant about frontier models going to influencers first, X user AIandDesign calls it "half true": he agrees it's infuriating that accounts with 300k followers get first dibs while real developers wait, then post exaggerated productivity stories.
But he pushes back on claims the model underdelivers: GPT-6 Astra is the best model he's ever used and is doing things he finds unbelievable — not perfect, with spectacular failures at times, but clearly state of the art. He explicitly notes the post isn't sponsored. The quoted tweet, by contrast, claims Astra regressed: needs spoonfeeding, skips steps, does unasked things, and rushes to finish.
