ROSS Intel cites US gov't fair use stance to widen AI training copyright fight

ROSS Intelligence filed a 28(j) letter in the Third Circuit, quoting the U.S. government's position that whether training AI models on written works constitutes fair use is a matter of strong national interest — applying broadly to 'training of AI models', not just generative AI. Miles Brundage shared the filing, noting the government's full-throated support for fair use in gen AI training is beginning to shift to other consequential cases.
