Altman says AI may create an entirely new computer category built around proactivity

On the Sources Podcast with Alex Heath, Sam Altman discussed whether consumer devices could become core to OpenAI's future.
His take:
- AI may create an entirely new category of computer — "the kind of shift that only shows up once every few decades"
- There will be something that "belongs in your pocket" and something that "belongs on your body" (wearable form)
- The big adjustment will be getting used to the idea of a proactive computer — one that acts on its own rather than only responding
The comments align with OpenAI's hardware collaboration with Jony Ive and suggest devices are more than an add-on to OpenAI's strategy.
