Anthropic announced that Claude completed the first formalized proof of Fermat's Last Theorem last month — translating Andrew Wiles' 1995 proof into Lean-verifiable form, a project experts expected to take years. At over 13 million lines of code, it's the largest Lean proof ever written, and it also formalizes the 29,000+ supporting theorems the proof depends on, providing machine verification for the entire dependency chain.
