LLMs write locally coherent but globally incoherent quests: an MMO writer's thousands-of-quests problem
HLCYSWAP · reddit · 2026-09-05
A developer writing thousands of MMORPG quests reports that GPT's latest model produces locally coherent but globally incoherent quest skeletons: theory-of-mind failures like leaking NPC secrets the player shouldn't know, asking for items not yet introduced, and forgetting who's being talked about. Even 20–30 turns of corrections fail — fixing one area lets another probability space break. He asks if anyone has worked on solutions to long-form coherence.
