Tauri-Based Wan2GP Desktop Launcher Brings One-Click Open-Source Video Gen to Windows
Extension_Affect_483 · reddit · 2026-09-05
A developer has rewritten the Wan2GP (WanGP) desktop launcher in Rust + Tauri, slashing download size and RAM so Windows users can run the open-source generative toolkit with zero Python/CUDA setup.
WanGP by deepbeepmeep is a one-stop open-source app for video, image, audio and TTS generation, with a browser UI, queue, galleries, LoRAs, finetunes and plugins. It runs on as little as 6GB VRAM and supports both old and new GPUs.
The launcher adds:
- One-click install with GPU detection and plan preview
- Auto per-GPU kernels synced from WanGP's setupconfig. on every update
- Isolated uv env with pinned deps, no PATH editing
- One-click updates; install models, LoRAs and outputs on any drive
- Auto-Tune that recommends VRAM/RAM profiles and writes config
- Silent removal of the legacy Electron launcher while keeping user data
