Go into computers: a $12B bet on AI coding power makes it the smartest career path

A new Adaptive Good essay argues young engineers—especially women—should enter computing, on two legs of reasoning. First, massive capex ($4B in 2025, $12B planned for 2026) is chasing AI models whose single best capability is still generating correct code, while remaining weak outside the command line; digitization also iterates far faster than physical tools, driving most new tooling at the engineering-science interface. Second, computers form the tightest practice-reward loop ever invented: you can train 14 hours a day, reverse-engineer torrents, games, and audio representations, and the table is open to anyone.
