llama.cpp creator Georgi Gerganov confirmed that Hugging Face has been acquired by NVIDIA. He expressed excitement about joining the journey and noted that NVIDIA has been an active supporter of the llama.cpp project for over a year — contributing engineers to the codebase, collaborating with the community, and provisioning hardware for development and testing.
The local AI ecosystem has largely benefited from the joint efforts; community developers responded with support for the llama.cpp team and the continued GGUF format.
