The lawmakers behind major state AI regulations, including Scott Wiener and Senator Gounardes, signed a joint statement calling on frontier AI companies to establish a united, independently verifiable framework to "pace" AI development until alignment and safety work catches up, aiming to eliminate catastrophe risk from rushed development.
