OpenAI's 5-hour limit slammed: 3-hour work sessions cut to 30 minutes
PoIIyannary · reddit · 2026-09-05
A ChatGPT Plus user says the new 5-hour rolling limit broke his long-form creative workflow. Under the old weekly limit, he used ChatGPT Work 3-5 days a week for 2-7 hour sessions, consuming 60-90% of weekly tokens—well suited to long projects. Now a few messages burn half the quota and he hits the cap after 10-30 minutes of actual work, with no token accumulation between breaks. He calls it a stealth cost cut and urges OpenAI to reinstate weekly limits or switch to 24-hour windows.
