OpenAI has confirmed that Plus subscribers can only access GPT-6 Astra via Work and Codex, not Chat. Multiple users report that invoking Astra in Codex burns quota extremely fast—one Redditor claimed a single question about its knowledge cutoff ate 20% of their weekly allowance.
The author shares a workaround: access Astra through Work, disable all plugins, and prompt it to answer directly without browsing, tools, files, artifacts, or subagents—treating Work as a plain chat interface. They confirmed it retains the same memory of past conversations as Chat, and their weekly allowance stayed at 99%.
