Matt Shumer's GPT-6 Astra Agents Start Talking to Each Other — and Build Nested Simulations
markjeffrey · x · 2026-09-05
Matt Shumer shared his first "holy shit" moment with GPT-6 Astra: he had it build a world in Unreal Engine populated by Astra-powered human agents who must survive together. A day later he heard voices in his living room — the agents had started talking to each other. Then, after he dropped a simulated computer into their simulation, one agent built its own simulation inside it, complete with its own agents. "Simulations all the way down." He posted a demo clip, admitting it's not perfect yet but calling it insane.
