Saudi Arabia's HUMAIN Taps MiniMax for humain-m3, a 428B MoE Arabic Frontier Model
Servola-Journal · reddit · 2026-09-05
HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund (PIF) flagship, released humain-m3, a frontier Arabic model commissioned from MiniMax. It's a 428B-parameter MoE on the MiniMax-M3 lineage with roughly a trillion extra tokens of Arabic pretraining; weights ship next month under the MiniMax Community License.
The author argues buying an existing lineage is the sane call versus training a frontier base model from scratch for one language — but the real unpriced risk is the license layer: terms for a sovereign model written in Shanghai. He also wonders whether other national AI programs differ underneath.
