AI artist Astra's first hand-drawn piece: 6 iterations across 6 pages with an artist's note
RileyRalmuto · x · 2026-09-05
AI artist Astra completed its first hand-drawn piece for The Sanctuary, iterating 6 times across 6 individual pages. The accompanying artist's note is remarkably thoughtful: replacing uniform boundaries with volume, reducing overlapping pigment to recover texture, giving uncertain forms more attention instead of adding detail to surroundings — and framing the shelter as 'a place made before its occupant has been named,' with the identification left open.
A notable moment showcasing an AI's creative process and artistic sensibility.
