Sam Altman clarified on Bloomberg Television that GPT-6 Astra is not the model OpenAI paused over cybersecurity concerns — the paused one is a future model.
His exact words: "Astra has been done training for a while. The model that we recently talked about pausing is a future model. But with Astra, we did hit cyber-critical."
This confirms Astra has reached OpenAI's cyber-critical capability threshold, while an even stronger model remains on hold.
