A Harvard dean's email "modestly" suggested professors teaching writing-intensive courses should encourage AI use. Critic Tyler Austin Harper called it end-times moralizing about policing students and damaging "trust".

Commenter firasd argues that, normative debates aside, it's directionally correct: higher ed's "Essay-Industrial complex" has amoeba-like grown for decades, and if LLMs can crank out these essays easily, alternative pedagogical approaches are worth investigating.
