NVIDIA launches PAIR, turning idle home PCs into a shared local AI inference pool

techNmak · x · 2026-09-05

NVIDIA's Personal AI Router (PAIR) lets multiple PCs and Macs on the same network act as a small shared serving pool for local AI agents. It discovers machines, tracks available engines and models, exposes Ollama- and OpenAI-compatible endpoints, and routes each request to the best node by availability and load.

Caveats: the scheduler currently combines queued work with a coarse smoothed GPU-utilization signal and prefers nodes already holding the requested model. PAIR does not pool GPU memory, shard a model across machines, or split a single request between devices.
