Researcher neuroecology notes a sense of déjà vu: in his youth, worms and viruses sporadically swept the internet, taking systems down, installing keyloggers, and building botnets — and they were honestly very easy to make, essentially the "background radiation" of the internet. He suggests AI may push things back in that direction, at least for a while.
