Reviewer: OpenAI's GPT-6-Astra finally 'gets what you mean,' with Fable-level intelligence and real gains in game dev

Peter Gostev, in a follow-up to his GPT-6-Astra review, says the model marks a major leap over GPT-5.6-Sol, which he'd called a persistent-but-not-bright "rottweiler" versus Fable's "wise owl." Astra combines significantly higher intelligence with persistence that is now "creative-solutions persistent" rather than dumbly persistent.
His key observation: Astra genuinely understands intent. After submitting tasks, he kept expecting to have under-explained the approach, only to find the model's plan matched exactly how he'd want it done. He argues this removes the burden of being the absolute expert on every task.
Tasks that previous models only half-completed now "just clicked." Game development and 3D are at an "incredible level" — maybe not AAA, but a massive jump — with notable code improvements as well.
