YuchenjUW argues the AI coding market is currently a duopoly (Anthropic and OpenAI) but will become a triopoly as open-source models take market share like Android and Linux did, based on what Databricks sees serving large customers. gethackteam replies that the difference is OSS vendors only supply models and need third-party coding agents — bundling agents into their offering would no longer count as pure OSS.
